Fashion lovers, rejoice! Six of the most influential designers in Vancouver will share the stage this Sunday, February 21st, during Fashion Freestyle Competition + Showcase, presented by String Magazine as part of the Made in Vancouver Festival. And it’s all free!
RozeMerie Cuevas of JC Studio, Carlie Wong, Allison Smith of Allison Wonderland, Joanna Kulpa of Kulpa, Margarita Angelatos of Red Jade, and Nicole Bridger will be presenting pieces from their latest collections as well as forming the panel of judges that will decide the winner in a Project Runway-style competition between four fashion design students.
Iris Taborsky-Tasa from the VCC Fashion Program, Justine Edralin from Kwantlen University, Jade Jordan from the Art Institute, and Erin Johanson from Blanche Macdonald will be going face to face to complete a surprise design challenge which will involve the participation of 4 lucky audience members, who will be paired with each student. The students will be marked under three categories: Creativity, Construction, and Overall Execution, and the winner will receive a very special surprise made possible by the loveliest boutique in Yaletown: Fine Finds.
Avant Garde Hair Studio will be providing all the hair and makeup for this event, with celebrity stylist, Jon Paul Holt, and the head of the team. His energy and superb skill, along with those of his stylists, are sure to make this event all the more exciting and anticipated.
