Music Style: a day out on the town with Old Money

Cambridge, Scheme, and Konrad (above, left to right) make music. The music that they make inevitably thrusts people into dancing and—for those who know the words—into singing.
But music, as much as fashion, rarely has something absolutely new to offer, and just like designers pull from different eras and styles to create, so do musicians. Cambridge, Scheme, and Konrad do this too, but do it so well you’d almost think that what they create is something completely new; that their sound is something you’ve never heard before:
A myriad of percussion from electric beats to African drum rhythms, a pulsating bass, intelligent transitions, and verbal skills to tie it all together–this is Old Money.
Cambridge and Scheme hail from NYC and so regularly make their way to our side of the continent to play shows with Vancouver boy Konrad. String Magazine took the chance in one such occasion, put some clothes on a rack (all from student designers just graduating from Kwantlen Polytechnic Unversity), let these kids have their way with it, and set out to have a photo day with photographer Kris Krüg.
Lucky charms for all, too, as Old Money is together again and in town to please us with their melodies. One show is tonight (August 13) as part of Olio Fest, and one next Saturday (August 22) . Not something to miss, so make your way to the Bourbon and Biltmore, respectively—and bring an extra shirt as you’re bound to get a sweaty armpit out of it.
