On Wednesday, June 3rd, Hardihood Clothing made their mark at Caprice with their first annual fashion show, Tainted Love: Missionary Style. Audience members were greeted with full body paint models and enjoyed musical stylings from Kanabliss Tha Supaspliff. It was one of the liveliest and most well choreographed fashion show of the year, with proceeds benefiting Prostate Cancer Research at VGH.

Embroidered “H” logos and the phrase “I Am What You Are Not” emblazoned across the backs of t-shirts and hoodies that were paired with military pants and combat boots. This Fall/Winter 2009 collection featured charcoal grey, turquoise, and staple colour black. The sassy gals who strut their stuff down the catwalk wore mens hoodies and creatively slashed tees. Though designer, Angus Wong, does intend to introduce a women’s wear collection in the future.

What set this show apart was the models’ boundless energy – each one dancing down the runway in their own upbeat style. Carnal tensions heated up the room as the girls played hard to get. One even stepped on a male model with her four-inch heels. The female audience members were also treated to a brief strip teaser when a male model ripped his shirt off his chest, revealing a Hardihood tattoo across his back.

The evening was wrought with solid entertainment from the models and performers alike, but the idea behind Hardihood images carry a much deeper meaning rooted in Tibetan symbolism. For more information, please visit their website at www.hardihoodclothing.com.
