String Magazine, and by the looks of it all of Vancouver, loves fashion events farmers’ market-style. Small ones, big ones, monthly ones, medium-sized ones, back-alley ones… You name it, we’ve got it.
One of our most recent versions, held at the Scotiabank Dance Centre this past August 21-23, was Spend on Trend. SOT delivered an event that showcased some of the best and newest in Canadian design. BC-favourite jeweller, TOODLEBUNNY made an appearance as well as newcomers House of L, Crass & Sugar, and Davie & Chiyo. A plethora of accessories, clothing, jewellery, and everything in between was displayed handsomely on shelves and tables, each set manned by the friendly face belonging to creator of those very items.
The first night of the event was captured on-camera by the String Magazine Event Report Crew, who got acquainted with the designers and their wares, as well as SOT organizer, Fiona Louie. This SOT is the first of 7 led by Louie, who took over from Nanna designer Jody Phillips this year.
Take a look at what we saw at the latest Spend on Trend below:
Please note: Crass & Sugar’s design direction has drastically changed since the making of this video. Check out their website via the link above for more details.
